A volcanic island, Brava is one of the 22 municipalities of Cape Verde, part of the Sotavento archipelago, and has 5,995 inhabitants. It is the smallest inhabited island in the archipelago. The capital of the municipality is the city of Nova Sintra. The municipality of Brava also includes the islets of Grande and Cima.


The island of Brava does not have its own airport. The Aeródromo de São Filipe is located on the nearby island of Fogo. From Furna there is a boat connection with São Filipe. The travel time is less than an hour.


There is still little tourism on the island. It is mainly a place for walking tours. From Cidade de Nova Sintra there are views of the island of Fogo. A True paradise for hikers and an oasis of peace.

Brava is een vulkanisch eiland en is een van de 22 gemeentes van Kaapverdië, onderdeel van de archipel Sotavento, en telt 5.995 inwoners. Het is het kleinste bewoonde eiland van de archipel. De hoofdplaats van de gemeente is de stad Nova Sintra. Tot de gemeente Brava behoren ook de eilandjes Grande en Cima.


Het eiland Brava heeft geen eigen vliegveld. Op het nabijgelegen eiland Fogo ligt het Aeródromo de São Filipe. Vanuit Furna is een bootverbinding met São Filipe. De reisduur is minder dan een uur.


Op het eiland is nog weinig toerisme. Het is vooral een plek voor wandeltochten. Vanuit Cidade de Nova Sintra is er uitzichten op het eiland Fogo. Een paradijs voor wandelaars in een oase van rust.
